Premier Dental and Orthodontic Centre embarked on a historical milestone when the dental clinic received an accreditation award from the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH), an ISQUA (International Society for Quality in Healthcare) accredited  body yesterday.

Guest of honour, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji (Mohd) Isham bin Haji Jaafar presented the accreditation to Managing Director of Premier Dental and Orthodontic Centre Dato Paduka Dr Haji Abdul Latif bin Haji Ibrahim.

Within two and half years of its operation, Premier Dental and Orthodontic Centre underwent an accreditation survey by the MSQH in July 2019.

The clinic was audited in several areas including access to care, facilities and equipment, human resources, practice, safety, ethics, clinical governance and quality improvement activities.

The minister commented that being the first private clinic in the country to attain an accreditation from an international body shows that the dental clinic excels in the audited criteria.

The managing director said the clinic was awarded a full status accreditation for four years in September 2019.

The dental clinic strives to offer quality dental services to the public, and that was only possible through the process of achieving accreditation.

“The journey of accreditation has enabled us to comply with the existing regulations and statutory requirements in Brunei Darussalam, offer better quality care, and strengthen community trust and public confidence,” he said.

“It has also enabled us to establish a benchmark to offer quality dental services to the Bruneian community as the centre is the first private dental clinic in the country to achieve exclusive four-year full status dental accreditation by MSQH,” he concluded.

The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of copy of the accreditation report by member of Board of Directors of Premier Dental and Orthodontic Centre Dr Sumaya to Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman and Deputy Permanent Secretaries Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif and Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin.
